REVIEW:

Not having read Jane Austen’s books completely, I was intrigued by the summary.  Fierce lawyer and an alpha male - the fool proof combination for crackling chemistry and romance, sadly the writer didn’t make much use of that combination.

Elise, our female protagonist is a bright law student when eventually falls for the alpha male, Greg. Though they started out as two individuals with strong opinion and disagreed at every turn, Greg managed to fall head over heels for Elise. Enter Greg’s jilted fiancé – she goes on to make life miserable for them forcing them to face their true self and work on their relationship.

For a story line that had a huge scope in terms sequence of events, the book wasn’t really fleshed out. I felt that the writer crammed in a lot of heavy emotions which ended up making the book a shallow read. If only the story was panned out into more books, the series surely would have been a huge hit. The characterization was well thought of though the writer could have afforded to give more dimensions if the story was series. The writing was perfect and kept me hooked. As the summary promised, the story did seem similar to Jane Austin’s works in terms of thought process. The chemistry between Elise and Greg wasn’t crackling but managed to put a big smile on my face for being subtle and neat.

MY SAY: One time read. Perfect for that cozy read for a rainy day.
