REVIEW:

Heart dancing is a story of 14 year old Savanna who is witnessing her family and her whole system of faith destructing. She refuses to stand by and watch her life being wrecked as a consequence of her parent’s decision. A leap of faith and willingness to adapt for betterment leads to betterment of Savanna’s life.

The writer in the process of narrating Savanna’s story introduces the readers to a four step process which eventually ideally leads to happy life. When I signed up for this book, I was badly in need of such a miracle that would impact my life leaving me as a happy individual. When I completed reading the book, I wasn’t exactly happy but I was a lot calmer. The writer Kathryn explains a lot of simple yet complex belief about god and the path to happiness via Savanna’s experience.  Given that the protagonist is a teenager, the process of heart dancing or alchemy of transformation is narrated in a manner that would be apt for both a teenager and an adult. But I doubt if my 14 year old self would actually understand and be able to process such complex thoughts. Being a book that borders self-help genre,  was astounded by the depth that the writer gave for each character – right from the three main characters of Savanna, Christine and Brain to Avery and Janet. The narration had a plethora of emotions portrayed vividly. A ‘beautiful kaleidoscope of emotions’ would be the perfect phrase to describe the emotions that the writer conveyed via her characters.

A part of the book that mentions a special mention is the concept of Miracle Tokens. Inspired by this book, I left a small note along the lines of the Miracle Token while tipping the waiter in my regular coffee joint. He was so overwhelmed by it that he offered me a coffee on the house next day. Read more about it here .

To a normal human being like me who is blessed with enough rational reasoning skills and an immense faith in a higher power, this book was a refresher of what I already knew but choose to forget due to circumstances.

MY SAY: A book that needs to be pondered upon and not just read.
